August Means Holiday Planning!

It’s August. And while you may be still feeling the summer vibe, my discussions with clients this month are focused on Holiday Planning.

Because whether you sell to consumers or are in the service industry, now is the time to start thinking about holiday plans. The more you do now to get ready for holiday events and shoppers, the more smoothly your planned activities will go. The more revenue you are likely to generate. And the more likely you are to build relationships with new clients and deepen those you have in the coming year.

B2C Holiday Planning Prep-Work

For e-commerce clients and those that sell to consumers, there is a lot of groundwork to cover:

  • Deciding what type of promotion you want to offer for Black Friday/Cyber Monday and during the month of December.
  • Determining if there are any small updates or changes that need to be made to the website. (Now is not the time to embark on any major redesigns.)
  • Increasing your following by encouraging people to sign up for your email and to follow you on social media to make sure they don’t miss out on special offers and sales.
  • Designing and booking advertising. If you are planning any local print advertising, they book out early. Writing and designing flyers and postcards now, means you’ll have plenty of time to proofread and catch errors.

B2B Holiday Planning Prep-Work

For my professional service clients early planning is just as important. Are you planning a holiday party, toy-drive or other unique event for your customers? If so, now is the time to:

  • Determine what the event will be
  • Who you will invite (All customers? Prospects? High-value clients only?)
  • Book the facility. Think about how many businesses are out there that may want to host an event at that same wine bar, music venue or even bowling alley. Book now to ensure you’re not scrambling last minute to find a venue.
